Meet A Member: Fred Kaplan

Fred Kaplan joined The Bulfinch Group in 2024 as a Financial Representative and brings with him over 30 years of trading and risk management experience. He began his career as an options market-maker on the exchange floor and has run trading desks for several energy trading firms and commodity hedge funds. He firmly believes that preemptively assessing risks and preparing for unexpected scenarios is the optimal way to maximize long-term success in all aspects of financial services, both for businesses and individuals.
With a passion for helping others, Fred's mission is to consult with individuals and small business owners to discover their financial needs and implement plans with appropriate flexibility and protection. By assisting clients in creating an organized financial strategy, he is able to help them achieve their financial goals. Determined to help those who need financial guidance, he remains focused on informing and teaching individuals as they embark on their own financial journeys.
Fred earned a B.S. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, where he studied finance and psychology.
When he is not working, you can find him at the Town Spa Restaurant in Stoughton, the first balcony/center ice at the Boston Bruins' games, or playing cards with his friends. Active in his community, he has three children, Amanda, Zack, and Melanie, and lives in his childhood hometown of Sharon, MA with his wife Marcy.
